Tetiana Kovalova is a botanical artist based in Kyiv, Ukraine. She works primarily in watercolour, a medium that beautifully conveys the delicate character and true beauty of plants, though she occasionally creates works in graphite as well.
Her subjects range from striking flowers and plants that immediately capture attention to those with subtle imperfections and unique character. Through her art, she seeks to reveal and celebrate the individuality of each plant. The more she paints, the more she appreciates the beauty, complexity, and fragility of the natural world.
Through her work, Tetiana hopes to share her passion for botanical art with audiences around the world, raise awareness of rare and endangered plant species, and contribute to a deeper appreciation of their conservation and protection.
Before becoming a botanical artist, Tetiana Kovalova built an academic career in philology, earning a PhD and teaching at universities across Ukraine for many years. In 2020, she decided to make a significant career change and began her journey as an artist.
Her fascination with botanical art led her to undertake extensive training with Ukrainian botanical artists through a series of online and in-person courses from 2021 to 2023. Since 2024, she has been an art tutor for online courses at Nataliia Kupchyk’s Botanical Art School.
Tetiana is currently a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA) and a member of the Society of Ukrainian Botanical Artists (SUBA) and the Association of Botanical Artists (ABA). She regularly participates in botanical art exhibitions and has received awards for “Compositional Solution” (SUBA, 2024) and “Inspiring Use of Colour” (SUBA, 2025).
