"Three oaks" (Latin: Quércus álba, Quércus rúbra, Quércus róbur). I’d held a long-standing ambition to draw three oaks, but the one detail missing was a white oak acorn. As far as I know, the last time the tree in the St Petersburg Botanical Garden fruited was back in the 1960s, so I finally decided to begin the artwork without it. Then, quite miraculously, while walking in the Botanical Garden, I spotted acorns on the white oak! It had decided to fruit that very year, and I was lucky enough to see a white oak acorn in person and finally draw it.
