This work depicts Maranta leuconeura ‘Fascinator Tricolor’, a tropical species widely valued as an ornamental houseplant for its striking foliage and rhythmic leaf patterning. It is also an engaging subject for observation, as its leaves respond to light by folding and unfolding throughout the day. The composition presents the plant at different stages of growth, including mature leaves, a developing shoot, inflorescence, and underground structures. Particular attention is given to the structure of the leaves, with their characteristic red venation contrasting against deep green tones, as well as to the subtle colour variations on the reverse side. The roots and tubers are included to provide a more complete botanical study of the species. The artist is passionate about growing houseplants and gardening, and therefore studies all parts of the plant in order to achieve a high level of botanical accuracy.
