It blooms with pale pink flowers in May and bears oval-shaped fruit. By September, the fruit ripens into yellow fruit measuring about 8–15 cm in diameter. The fruit is fragrant and is often preserved to make tea. In the illustration, the fruit shown on the tree is a large mature fruit, while the dissected fruit is a fallen immature fruit.

It blooms with white, saucer-shaped flowers in May, and it is said that the name Gamaksalnamu comes from the resemblance of its flower buds to grains of rice eaten by crows. Its fruit ripens to a bright red beginning in September. I chose to depict a low-growing Gamaksalnamu bearing red berries in the late autumn breeze.
