Kale or leaf cabbage is usually grown for its edible leaves, as a 'superfood' crop that can withstand harsh weather, and provide greens over-winter. The variety 'Frost Byte' has marked white veins to its ruffled leaves, and once temperatures fall below 5 degrees C, the new growth is white, contrasting with the outer leaves. Painted using Winsor and Newton, sennelier and MaimeriBlu watercolours on Saunders Waterford High white HP 640gsm paper.
