This Heliconia forms a pair with my first study of the species. I acquired both plants during the traditional sell-off of flowers on the final day of the Chelsea Flower Show. It was an incredible experience to bring these rare exhibition specimens home with me. While the first Heliconia captivated me with its colour, I was fascinated here by the contrast between the rich bracts and the dry, parchment-like details that emphasize its character. Together, these two paintings remain a memory of the joyful atmosphere at the end of the show, when the beauty of the exhibits moved into my home.
