This drawing depicts Saxifraga florulenta, a rare endemic species and glacial relict confined to the Maritime Alps. The plant is adapted to extreme siliceous rocky habitats, typically growing in narrow crevices at high altitudes, where water availability is irregular and environmental conditions are highly selective. Notably, S. florulenta is a monocarpic perennial, capable of living for several decades before flowering once and subsequently dying. The composition is structured across three distinct areas of the sheet. One section represents the basal rosette in its vegetative state, while another illustrates the first flowering individual I have personally observed after extensive field research. A third area shows a specimen with a partially developed inflorescence, accompanied by a minimal indication of its alpine habitat.
