This apple painting was created as part of Belgium’s Finest, an exhibition organised by the Association of Botanical Artists Belgium (VBKB) for Botanical Art Worldwide 2025. In the orchard Pomona Belgica, belonging to pomologist Eddy Vets, I discovered old Belgian varieties that differ greatly in shape, colour, and blossom. The aim of this work is to make people aware that there are many more varieties than those found on today’s supermarket shelves.
