My goal was to illustrate the complete growth cycle of a pumpkin in a single image—showing the seeds, leaves, flowers, and fruit. To truly understand the process, I grew the pumpkin myself and carefully documented each stage through photographs, sketches, and color studies. The artwork is created at a 1:1 scale. I measured every part of the plant precisely and drew it at its actual size to capture its true essence. This project took me about a year and a half to complete. I thoroughly enjoyed every step, from close observation and recording to sketching and coloring. It was also a valuable lesson in patience, as I waited for the plant to grow andthoughtfully decided which elements to include within the limited space of the composition. Through this piece, I hope to share not only the beauty of the pumpkin’s life cycle, but also the quiet joy that comes from slowing down, observing nature, and honoring its details with care.
