A country garden, nature, and a moment of silence amidst constant anxiety became a way to restore my inner equilibrium. It was there, among the familiar flora, that I first witnessed a rhubarb plant in bloom. Typically known for its immense foliage that holds a universe of intricate details, its flowering stage was a true discovery. The delicate, weightless blossoms seemed to stand strong against all the storms of the world. I captured several reference photos in May 2022, unaware of how essential they would become. The image lingered in my memory until I knew I had to capture it in my art. For me, rhubarb transcends botanical beauty; it is the essence of childhood. Its tart, green apple-like flavor and the memory of my grandmother’s pies remain some of my most comforting memories

I knew from the very beginning that I had to paint asparagus through every stage of its growth. I wasn't interested in the familiar, perfectly cut bunch from the supermarket - I was looking for a unique perspective that hadn't been painted before. I wanted an image that would encompass its entire life cycle: the delicate shoots, the airy greenery, the subtle blooming, and the berries. To capture this natural truth, I planted a seedling sent by my parents and carefully observed its development over time. It was crucial for me to show asparagus in its true, natural form, exactly as it grows in the earth, rather than just as a product on a store shelf. All these observations slowly pieced together, and by the end of 2024, the exact composition you see in this painting finally took shape in my mind.
