My work is based on close observation of plants, both in their natural habitats and in cultivation. I am particularly interested in the relationship between plant form and environment, and aim to reflect this through accurate depiction combined with a sense of place.

Field studies, including work in Arunachal Pradesh in the Eastern Himalayas, inform my approach, alongside sustained observation of living specimens. I work primarily in coloured pencil, focusing on structure, texture, and the subtle variations found in plant surfaces.

I trained at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, completing the Diploma in Botanical Illustration.

Marie Korabečná is a botanical illustrator whose work is based on close observation of plants in both natural habitats and cultivation. Alongside her artistic practice, she works professionally in the field of human genetics, bringing a strong scientific perspective to her approach to botanical illustration.

She completed the Diploma in Botanical Illustration at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in 2020. Her work includes commissioned illustrations of agricultural crops for educational and representational purposes, as well as independent projects focusing on plants in their ecological context.
